Weather in Mauritania and Senegal now has a value

The weather layers (rain, gusts, temperature, visibility) and the weather along a route now cover all of Africa and Arabia, not only Europe and the north of Morocco.

What was missing

Our forecast frames come from the German weather service's European model, and its grid ends at 29.5° N. That is south of Marrakech and north of Dakhla. Morocco's north and Tunisia were covered; Dakhla, Mauritania, Senegal and the Sahara showed an empty map, and a route there said nothing at each stop.

What changed

Where the European model has no data, the frames now take the American GFS model (0.25°, about 28 km, public domain). Rain, gusts, temperature and visibility, the rain type (rain, mixed, snow, freezing) and the gust direction. In Europe nothing changes: the sharper European values stay where they exist, and the seam at 29.5° N is hard to see.

What it cannot do

GFS is a forecast model, not a radar. There is no free rain radar for Africa, so the past and nowcast rain bands stay European. South of Marrakech the rain you see is a forecast at ~28 km, good for "a front is coming", not for "it rains on this valley now". Thunder marks are also European only.

The frames over Africa are about twice the size of the European ones. The area GFS may fill is configurable (RAIN_GFS_BOX).
