Every gate and every stop has a card, on the desktop too

Yesterday the rider app learned what kind of barrier sits on your route. Today the desktop planner draws the same eight symbols on the route, and a click on any of them — or on any stop — opens its card in the route briefing, beside the map, with the keyboard as welcome as the mouse.

The same symbols as the phone

A snowflake for a winter or storm closure, a cone for roadworks, a boat for a ferry's booth or ramp boom, a flag over a boom for a border crossing, a padlocked gate for a private or farm gate, a booth for a toll, a bollard, the plain gate; two stacked cards when a barrier is several of these at once. The Gates badge of the briefing says the kind in words, "Ferry or port · Toll at km 488.3", and a test holds the desktop's drawings to the phone's, path for path, and its reading of a barrier to the server's, on the same two thousand cases.

The card is the row

Nothing pops up over the map. Click a gate's symbol on the route and the briefing comes forward, its Gates badge opens on that gate, the row is selected and the map centres on it. The row is the card: the status and why, the kilometre, the note the mappers wrote ("Intermittently closed during blizzards", as written), what the kind was read from, the position, the OSM node, and every tag in words. Copy puts it on the clipboard, Share hands it on. The red closed-gate lines under the route do the same.

Stops have cards too, the start included: "A · Bergen · leave about 10:00", then each arrival with the weather there at that time. Click a stop's letter (a drag still moves it) and its row opens with the kilometre, the arrival and the position.

From the keyboard

Tab walks the route: the start, the gates before the first via, the via, and so on, each with its tooltip; Enter opens the card. In the briefing the arrows move between the gates or the stops and the row reached is the card, Enter shows it on the map, Escape clears it. The key table (press ?) lists them.

Two fixes in the planner

Different way, the round trip's other road back, now asks with your own profile and options — the style, dirt-first and its detour cap, the scenic bias, the gate settings — where it used to ask with none of them. And when dirt-first is on and the engine finds no other road within the detour cap, it says so instead of drawing the same road twice. The place search shows a result's full name on up to two lines, with its kind under it, instead of cutting it short.

It is on the desktop at epicride.fastgis.eu; the guide's desktop page has the details.
