The Street-level photos layer in the desktop planner now draws one thin line per road once you are zoomed in to street level, in place of the cameras' own GPS tracks. A road that was driven five times is one line; a track that drifted into the harbour is gone. Click the line as before and the nearest picture opens.
The server learned to invite riders by link, hand them a calendar file, start a group ride when an event goes live and tell the organisers when a rider raises an SOS. The desktop console now does all of it from the organiser's side.
The desktop planner has a new layer and a new widget, Street-level photos. Drag the 📸 camera onto the map, or switch the layer on and click one of its thin lines, and you see the picture a contributor took there. V does the same at the cross in the middle of the map. Google's own Street View is one click away, in a new tab, facing the same way.
The weather layers (rain, gusts, temperature, visibility) and the weather along a route now cover all of Africa and Arabia, not only Europe and the north of Morocco.
Search for Twisty roads near the Tizi n'Tichka and the N9 over the pass is now on the list, with the RP1506 beside it. Mixed adds the RP2016.
The curvy roads search used to stop at the Mediterranean. Ask it for roads near the Tizi n'Tichka and it found nothing. Now it finds the N9 over the pass, the RP2016 and RP1506 beside it, and the unnamed mountain roads in between.
Until now, switching an event to live changed one word on the console and nothing else. Now it starts the ride: the roster is in one group ride on the event's route, the organisers are reached when a rider who agreed raises an SOS, and at the end each rider can hand their own ride back to the event.
Since the routing graph crossed the Strait of Gibraltar, a route in Morocco has known its roads but not its gates: a private gate on a track near Ouarzazate came back as "unknown, not found in OSM". Now it comes back closed, with its OSM node, and the route goes around it.
Yesterday the rider app learned what kind of barrier sits on your route. Today the desktop planner draws the same eight symbols on the route, and a click on any of them — or on any stop — opens its card in the route briefing, beside the map, with the keyboard as welcome as the mouse.
You plan at the desk and ride with the phone. Now the desktop can hand a plan, or anything else in your library, to the phone: press Send to phone, and a notification arrives there. Tap it and the plan opens in the app's planner, ready to ride.
