An event goes live as a group ride
Until now, switching an event to live changed one word on the console and nothing else. Now it starts the ride: the roster is in one group ride on the event's route, the organisers are reached when a rider who agreed raises an SOS, and at the end each rider can hand their own ride back to the event.
One group ride for the roster
When the owner switches the event to live, everyone who accepted the invitation is invited to a group ride. The shared route is the event's planned route and the owner leads. If the owner is watching from a desk rather than riding, the lead passes to the first rider in the ride, as in any group ride. Each rider's phone gets a notification that the event is live, in the phone's language.
A rider on the roster shares their position with it while the event is live, and only then. When the event is finished or cancelled, the ride ends and the roster stops receiving positions. What a rider shares with anyone else is left as it was.
An SOS reaches the organisers, if you agreed
When you accept an invitation you are asked whether the organisers may be alerted if you crash or raise an SOS. If you said yes, then while the event is live the owner, organisers and staff get a notification at once and see on the live wall where it happened. When you stand the alarm down, they hear that too.
If you said no, they hear nothing, and that holds inside the event's group ride too. Fellow riders in the ride still hear your SOS, as in every group ride, but the owner, organisers and staff do not, even when they are riding. Before the event and after it, an SOS is between you and your own emergency contacts, who are alerted as always. After the event the organisers still see that an incident happened during it, but not where.
Your ride as the result
After the finish, each rider is offered their own recorded rides from the live window. Nothing is attached until they pick one. The one they confirm becomes the event's result track and is shared with the roster like the event's other documents. They can take it back.
The phone screens for all of this come next. The server side is live, and was checked on a phone against staging: the invitation, is live, the SOS and the stand-down all arrived. The Events page has the details.
